Every option includes a moving truck. Pay by the billable minute, with a lower rate after the first 180 minutes.

Crew + truckFirst 180 billable minutesMinute 181 onward
2 movers$2.50/min$2.15/min
3 movers$3.40/min$2.90/min
4 movers$4.30/min$3.65/min

180 minutes is a rate threshold, not a minimum purchase.

If your move uses 90 billable minutes, you pay for 90. The lower rate applies only to minutes after the first 180. The first 180 minutes retain the initial rate.

Billable minutesMoving charge
60$150
90$225

These are charges for the stated billable minutes, not predictions of your move’s duration. Separately agreed services for heavier or specialty items are not included.

What counts as a billable minute? →

One formula. Explained before moving day.

Billable minutes = work at the addresses + 2 × actual driving time between the addresses.

This formula describes a standard one-pickup, one-delivery move. For additional stops or multiple trips, we confirm the applicable travel calculation before moving day.

Work at your addresses

Time spent packing, protecting furniture, loading, unloading and completing the agreed work counts toward your billable minutes. Stairs and long carries take working time. They do not trigger a separate fee.

Driving between your addresses

We use double drive time between pickup and delivery. A 20-minute drive adds 40 billable minutes. This is how travel time is calculated on a standard one-pickup, one-delivery move.

Those minutes count toward the same 180-minute rate threshold as work at your addresses. There is no separate travel-rate tier.

Getting to you and returning afterward

You are not billed for the crew’s trip to your first address or its return from your last address.

One-minute billing

No 15-minute billing blocks. No 3-hour minimum.

How the lower rate works

For two movers and a truck, the first 180 billable minutes cost $2.50 each. Every additional billable minute costs $2.15.

240 billable minutes = (180 × $2.50) + (60 × $2.15) = $579.

A short-move example

Two movers and a truck, with one pickup and one delivery address:

Part of the moveActual timeBillable minutes
Loading40 minutes40
Driving between addresses15 minutes30
Unloading20 minutes20
Total75 minutes90

90 billable minutes × $2.50 = $225.

This example shows how the calculation works. Your total depends on the work and driving time for your move.

What your minute rates include

  • Your selected crew and a moving truck.
  • Fuel, without a separate fuel surcharge.
  • Stairs, without a separate stair fee.
  • Long carries, without a separate distance fee.
  • Ordinary, non-specialty items weighing 250 lb or less per item, without a separate heavy-item fee.

Working time still counts toward your billable minutes.

Items over 250 lb or requiring specialty handling must be agreed separately before the move. The weight allowance does not automatically include specialty handling. Tell us about these items when requesting your move so we can confirm the scope and any separate charge in advance.

We confirm your crew size, both minute rates, arrival window, the agreed scope and any separately agreed services or charges by text before moving day.

A short move shouldn’t require a 3-hour purchase.

Pay for billable minutes—not unused minimum hours.

A three-hour minimum means purchasing at least three hours, even when your move needs less billable time. Movers-LA has no three-hour minimum. A move using 60 billable minutes with two movers and a truck costs $150. A move using 90 billable minutes costs $225.

Illustrative comparison for two movers and a truck:

Billable timeMovers-LAExample: $150/hr with a 3-hour minimum
60 minutes$150$450
90 minutes$225$450
120 minutes$300$450
180 minutes$450$450
240 minutes$579$600

When comparing quotes, check for separate stair, long-carry and heavy-item fees. With Movers-LA, there is no separate fee for stairs, long carries or ordinary, non-specialty items up to 250 lb each. The time spent handling them simply counts toward your billable minutes.

The comparison assumes the same crew, truck, billable time and included services. The $150 hourly rate is an illustration, not a market average or a quote from a specific company.

A company with a lower hourly rate may cost less, particularly for a longer move. Compare the complete calculation: rates, minimums, travel billing and additional fees.

With Movers-LA, the rates and billing rules are clear before moving day.
