First, check whether the move can happen
Call the moving company with the pickup and delivery addresses, the inventory, and the times you can access both properties. Tell them whether packing is finished. If you need same-day help, ask for current availability rather than treating a website estimate as a reservation.
At Movers-LA, short-notice requests depend on the crew schedule and the job itself. Call (213) 222-5712. We confirm the arrival window and pricing before the booking is treated as settled.
Secure the keys and loading route
Contact building management to check whether moving is allowed that day. Confirm the elevator, loading entrance, parking, and any insurance paperwork. Make sure somebody can open the destination when the truck arrives.
If access is not available, say so early. A truck and crew cannot solve a locked building or an unavailable elevator simply by arriving. Adjusting the plan before dispatch is more useful than discovering the restriction with belongings already loaded.
Separate the work into three groups
Identify items that are ready, items that still need packing or disassembly, and items that will stay behind. Send a short list and photographs of large furniture. This lets the movers understand the work without asking you to create a perfect inventory under pressure.
Pack personal essentials separately: keys, documents, medication, valuables, chargers, and basic overnight supplies. Keep them with you. Close and label ready boxes, and keep the path to the door clear.
Review the agreement before the rush takes over
Check the crew size, hourly rate, minimum, arrival window, and any special packing or handling. Confirm how travel is billed and what happens if the scope changes. Ask about payment and rescheduling terms in the written confirmation.
Our standard local rates begin at $89/hour for 2 movers and a truck, with a 3-hour minimum and fuel included. The calculator can help with planning, but urgent availability and unusual work need direct confirmation. A clear agreement is still useful when there is little time to spare.
